The imagery on this plate was inspired by the paintings of An File/The Poet Mícheál Ó Gaoithín, The Blasket Painter (AKA Peig Sayer’s son). If you haven’t already seen some of his paintings of life on the Blasket Islands I recommend that you do; they’re just brilliant.

Inspired and informed by traditional ceramic shapes, but slab, pinch or coil-built to create a modern take on a traditional vessel. Each piece is handmade and bisque-fired, then decorated with loose paintings to create an original work of art.
The illustrations are inspired by all sorts.
